Memories Matter is a freelance business owned and operated by Alison Brown, assisted when necessary by contract writers.
Following over two decades of experience in evaluating projects and report writing, and many years of classroom teaching before that, Alison Brown has spent nearly a decade in the newspaper industry. Her work with a community newspaper involved interviewing people and writing their stories, as well as writing news and feature articles and preparing advertorial. She was also the paper’s proofreader.
Her specialty is in writing profiles of well-loved local citizens and in discovering fascinating, but little-known details, about people who are considered by their friends and neighbours – and especially by themselves – to be 'just ordinary folk'.
Her passion lies in helping people record their recollections of significant episodes in their lives before these cherished thoughts fade, as age ravages their memories and, eventually, their bodies.
Along with writing about people, Alison’s service includes:
